First of all, thanks for a tool that I have high hopes for (first time user).

Forgive my DB ignorance, but I was sent a server name, port, user ID, and password from a DB admin, but I don't know how to use DB Browser to examine the DB contents.

Here's what I'm putting into the new connection dialog:

Name: projName
Conn type: MS Sql Server
Server: server name sent to me
(next field): port sent to me
User name: user ID sent to me
Password: pwd sent to me

Am I entering the values incorrectly? I've tried the port attached to the server name (i.e. XXXXX:NNNN). All variations give me a connection errors.

Is there anything i need (like certain drivers) installed on my box besides DB Browser to do this?

Thanks for any help.
Mark

Hello

You have to put a comma between servername and port

server,port

Thanks for the reply Mike!

I'm still getting a connection error after making your change. FYI, I have installed the free version of SQL Server on my local box - are there other steps I have to do to configure DB Browser to use it?

Thx again, Mark

UPDATE: I got a connection!
However, nothing shows up in the browser (tables, ...) and all SELECTs fail. Is there more i'm supposed to do?
