Dear Mike,

We are close to getting approval to purchase Vis Imp Ent and have one final question related to data security

Even though your product supports scheduling, our client will most likely want somebody from their operations department to physically trigger the ETL job on a daily basis.

Can we prevent these operators from gaining access to view/modify the package script while still giving them sufficient access to run it?

(Our idea is to install VIE and the ETL packages on the server while the operator triggers the job from a client pc but I have no idea whether or how this can be done)

It is important that operators do not gain access to the source/target data or to the ETL process .. all this needs to be hidden from them

Many Thanks,
Richard

Richard

You may run packages from a command line using vpr.xe
This way you will be able to execute packages and you customer will not be able to modify them

We soon realised that Visual Importer ETL was designed by people who use it everyday.
