I think that we will need to purcahse two licenses of the Visual Importer
- professional to be used for development
- enterprise to be run on the production server

My question is how can work be migrated from the development to the production server ?

Do you need to configure it in a common database so that once an item has been tested and is ready for production, it is only a matter of scheduling it on the production server ?

OK here is what you need to do

create a share on the server for logs

on the server

Install Enterprise version
Do not use access repository
create MS Sql/Oracle repository and use it
click file =>Options=>Execution
set log directory to the share you have just created
eg \\servername\sharename
tick execute only local packages
tick use agent for execution

Your own pc

Install professional version

Make sure that is is using same repository
click file =>Options=>Execution
set log directory to the share you have just created
eg \\servername\sharename
tick execute only local packages
untick use agent for execution

Now when run the package from your own pc it will be executed locally so you can do all development
When you schedule it for the execution it will be executed on the server

All versions eg 2000,2003,2008 should work
No one complained so far
