Mapping Source file to Target table. 1 year, 2 months ago #2159

Mike,

I've encountered a significant problem that is preventing me from mapping my Source file to my Target table.

Please see the attachment. Note that there are 2 columns labeled F4 (highlighted in yellow). Try though I might, I cannot get rid of the duplicate column. For example, if I delete all except column one, then add them back in, columns F2, F3, and F4 go in correctly, but then column F4 gets repeated. Columns from F5 onward work properly. I even tried closing VImp and starting again from scratch.

Can you help?

Thanks,
Mark

There are several ways to solve this problem for example
by editing template manually

click template tab
find
SourceFields section

:[F1]=[1,8]
:[F2]=[9,16]
:[F3]=[17,23]
:[F4]=[24,31]
:[F4]=[32,39] <- edit this
:[F6]=[40,47]

click on target table tab

Best regards,
Mike

OK, thanks. I was able to manually adjust the various entries, but with 68 fields to define, the need to do so made what could have been a pretty simple process into real drudgery -- especially when I would make a mistake and have to go back and redo sections.

Anyway, I've finished the mapping, but now when I try to execute the import, all records are being rejected. The log indicates a SQL syntax error. Since the select statement is being generated by VImp, looks like I'm going to need your help again to sort this out.

Thanks,

Mark

Hello.

I have checked template you sent to us. It looks like you are trying to delete data from the database but you did not specify the update key

Have a look at user manual.

Bingo. You're exactly right, Mike. That did it.

I'm in business. Thanks so much for all the hand-holding.

Best,
Mark
