This is my first time with Database Browser, so I hope I'm just making a newbie mistake here.

In the screenshots you can see I set up a new Connection to my MS SQL Server and tested the connection successfully. In the main screen then I see the various tables in the seleted database, as expected. When I click on any of the tables (or right click and choose Select *) it gives me a ConnectionOpen error.

FYI, I have no trouble accessing the data with the same credentials from several other tools including MS SQL Server Management Studio.

Any idea what's wrong?

Have you got multiple instances by any chance?

I am not able to reply for some reason... Trying again with this message.

Okay, that worked.

Peter-

My database server is a single instance of MS SQL Server running on port 1433. I have multiple schemas in that database instance. See the screenshots. I set up two connections to access two different schemas and I can see all tables in both schemas in the table list, but cannot access the tables as indicated in my first posting.

I'm using SQL Server 2005.

I followed the link you supplied and changed my "Server" connection string to servername\instancename,portnumber and it worked! See the screenshot.

I found the instance name by opening MS SQL Server Management Studio and looking in the Summary pane. See the other screenshot.

Thanks a million, Mike!
