Hi,

We have 200 hosted customers using Oracle 10 g databases that we are considering migrating to Sql server 2008.

Our product already supports Sql server 2008 and therefore we already have a blank Sql db with all keys, stored procs, triggers etc in place.

Therefore we are looking for a reusable solution that we could use to migrate the data (and ONLY the data) in an automated way with minimal hassle.

Ideally we would generate a csv/xml/sql table with source and target datasources and then press a button.

The integrity of the data is extremely important and therefore we would like some way (preferably automated) to validate that the data has transferred successfully.

I would be interested in all services you provide to aid our migration, this could be in a advisory role to guide us on the best direction to take with existing tools or some other way that you think may be more appropriate.

I am also interested in your experience in oracle to sql migration, including past migrations, data validation techniques and multiple migration experience.

Thanks for your time.
Joe

Joe.

Thank you for the interest in our services.

We have experience and software which will help you to migrate the data.

There two possible ways to migrate

1 if we can connect to both Oracle and Sql server same time we can migrate data directly without any intermediate files.
2 If it is not possible we can export all data from oracle into text files and load them into SQL Server.

All migrations are logged so you will be able to see if it was completed successfully

Once development of migration package is completed it became an automated process

If you would like to migrate another database all you would need to do is adjust connection settings and run the package

In order to assist you with the migration can I ask you to answer following questions

1 How many tables have you got?
2 How big is you databases?

Can you email us blank database for SQL Server and a dump of oracle schema so we can estimate amount of work involved.
(If it is too big we can download it from ftp)

Best Regards,
