Hi,

Hope you can help before I go insane, I have come accross Advanced ETL Processor and it would be ideal for importing a number of Interbase .IB files in to SQL Server 2008. The problem that I have is I have installed it on my local machine which is where the.IB resides but every time I try to connect to it, I get the error "unavailable database" I cant see why this error is coming up as there is nothing else connected to it, its just a stand alone file.

Can you help?

Phil

P.S. I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to Interbase so any explanations can they be dumbed down for me

Are you able to connect to the interbase database using any other tools?

What did you put into the file name box?

Version of interbase?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply, in the FileName box I am putting I:\Interbas\DOCS_CGDPPI006_Backup.IB, setting the username to sysdba, password to the usual. I have had a look at the link that you sent me and it refers a fdb file which is something I dont have. I did try loading the latest version of FireBird on to the server to help with the process but found out that it wont cope with the Older version of the IB file that I have which is 7.1 so removed it again. Unfortunately we have a closed network here so you would not be able to remote in, thank you for the offer though but if you can think of anything else that might help please let me know.

Thanks Phil

Phil.

You did not say if you are able to connect to it using any other tools?

Hi Mike,

Sorry about that, I have not tried connecting to it through anything else as I have nothing else that can read IB files.

Thanks Phil
