I have a date field, [SAP DATE] that contains a null value. I have the Is Date set to convert it to the current date and time if the field does not contain a date value. This part of the process works fine.

OK, so the validation editor should have changed the field from null to the Current Date and Time, then in the transformation editor, I am trying to convert the date format to MM/DD/YYYY, but it does not convert the date format and converts it back to null (because I have the "on error" set to null). I want to get the current date and time into target field in the MM/DD/YYYY format.

Description: Returns Date in ‘yyyy-mm-dd hh:nn:ss.zzz' format.
In order to load Date fields into target database they should be converted into ‘yyyy-mm-dd
hh:nn:ss.zzz' format

I think what you need to do is to split date field using splitter and join it again in different order using joiner
