Hi,

I have a fixed width source file that contains employee and dependent records.

When an employee record occurs on the file, then there could be multiple dependent records below it. There is one record per line on the file. Each dependent record contains an employee id number that refers back to the parent employee record.

There are 3 destination CSV files. One of the CSV's needs dependent address info from the source file. The source file dependent records don't always contain address info, so if it's blank I need to look back at the employee address info and use that.

How would I go about looking back at the employee record to get that address info?
So far I was not able to do this kind of transformation

You may use keepvalue function to do that

Visual Importer ETL  saved us 25-30 hours per month. Much of that comes from being able to build in error checking into the scripting. I've even been able to script corrections that run on the fly triggered by the error checking on incoming order files.
