Dear Mike,
Question 1:
We’re specifically interested in metadata that shows the lineage for data items, beginning with the data source, applying any transformations and ending with the data target. Does Advanced ETL Processor (AEP) store this type of metadata, and if so, is it data that could be extracted for use in external reports or more generally for data governance purposes?
Question 2:
By Web service, we’re thinking of Web server based APIs (see e.g.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_service) that provide an HTTP interface allowing users to submit requests and retrieve results. Some ETL solutions have Web service capabilities (including in some cases the ability to publish an ETL workflow as a Web service). We’re just wondering what capabilities, if any, AEP provides in this area.
Question 7:
Does AEP specifically provide a method to validate that a database table structure matches the structure expected by the workflow, or whether a delimited or fixed-width file with column headers matches the expected file structure defined in the workflow?
Question 8:
What scripting language is used by AEP. Is it a custom language, or does it use a commonly used syntax, such as Java Script.
Thanks you for the information provided below. The answers cover what we need other than for the items above.
Regards,
Gladys
