Hi. I am looking more into the Advanced ETL Processor Pro and Advanced ETL Processor Ent and have some additional questions which I couldn't find answers to in the manuals and on the forums. Could you please help with the questions listed below?

1) Can Metadata be extracted to external data source or reports?
2) Can the Solution interact with Web Services as a data source and data target?
3)Can the ETL execute a stored procedure within a workflow and pass the results to a workflow as a data source?
4)Can it maintain fully functional PRODUTION and Disaster Recovery server environments?
5)Is there ease in promotion from development to TEST and PRODUCTION
6) Can jobs can be called by an external program (we are currently using TIDAL to call some of our processes)?
7) Can the Solution validate data source schemas?
8)Does the solution have open scripting capability (e.g. user defined functions and transformations)?

Thanks in advance
Gladys

Gladys

Thank you for the interest in out software

The best way to prove tha our software can do what you want is to email us couple of examples of what you are trying to achieve and we will email you back working examples with guide how to use them

1) Can Metadata be extracted to external data source or reports?

I am confused waht do you mean by metadata.
We can extract a lot of data from various data sources

2) Can the Solution interact with Web Services as a data source and data target?

Can you provide us with example please

3)Can the ETL execute a stored procedure within a workflow and pass the results to a workflow as a data source?

It can

4)Can it maintain fully functional PRODUTION and Disaster Recovery server environments?

Yoy can easily backup and restore entire repository or separate projects

5)Is there ease in promotion from development to TEST and PRODUCTION

Yoy can easily backup and restore entire repository or separate projects

6) Can jobs can be called by an external program (we are currently using TIDAL to call some of our processes)?

Yes you can call it from a command line

7) Can the Solution validate data source schemas?

There are more than 190 validation functions

8)Does the solution have open scripting capability (e.g. user defined functions and transformations)?

Yes, you can write your own scripts

Best regards,

Dear Mike,

Question 1:

We’re specifically interested in metadata that shows the lineage for data items, beginning with the data source, applying any transformations and ending with the data target. Does Advanced ETL Processor (AEP) store this type of metadata, and if so, is it data that could be extracted for use in external reports or more generally for data governance purposes?

Question 2:

By Web service, we’re thinking of Web server based APIs (see e.g. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_service) that provide an HTTP interface allowing users to submit requests and retrieve results. Some ETL solutions have Web service capabilities (including in some cases the ability to publish an ETL workflow as a Web service). We’re just wondering what capabilities, if any, AEP provides in this area.

Question 7:

Does AEP specifically provide a method to validate that a database table structure matches the structure expected by the workflow, or whether a delimited or fixed-width file with column headers matches the expected file structure defined in the workflow?

Question 8:

What scripting language is used by AEP. Is it a custom language, or does it use a commonly used syntax, such as Java Script.

Thanks you for the information provided below. The answers cover what we need other than for the items above.

Regards,
Gladys
