I am using Advanced ETL Pro and am trying to import from Excel to MSSQL. When I try and build my transformation I can connect to the Excel file using the reader but only the first 4 columns are displayed. In addition, when using this and other functions with the "Show Connections only for current project" checked I get none of my Connection objects.

Any suggestions regarding the "missing" Excel columns?

Version 4.2.3.9 on XP32 workstation with Access 2007 Repository.

When using this and other functions with the "Show Connections only for current project" checked I get none of my Connection objects.

This was corrected in version 4.2.4.1

Regarding excel click Plus or
Click in the middle of the grid and select "Auto Format Grid"

Please let us know the outcome

Thanks.

So, all the columns in the Excel file are now displayed. I need to combine two of the columns to make a value that I plan to insert in a new column. I figured out how to use the Joiner function and my concatenated string seems to work just fine. Next, in the Transformation screen, I click the green + button to add a new column to the sheet. Now I'd like to give the column a name so I select the new column and right click it and choose 'Set Fields Names' thinking that this would allow me to give my new column a name - unfortunately all this does is allow me to specify the row that contains the column names. When I click the Show Definition button I am also unable to name the column. Is my only option to use the default name [F36]?

You can rename fields inside transformer only when it is not connected to the data writer

Visual Importer ETL  saved us 25-30 hours per month. Much of that comes from being able to build in error checking into the scripting. I've even been able to script corrections that run on the fly triggered by the error checking on incoming order files.
