I have a licensed version of ETL Ent installed on WXP using the default MS Access repository. I was working on a report that connected to a database view that contained approximately 80000 records. I clicked the Preview button in the report layout editor and after the interface rendered a few pages of the report I clicked the cancel button (at the top of the reort viewer). The cancel button did not appear to stop the report from continuing to render and the system became unresponsive. I then used Task Manager to forcibly shut ETL Ent down. Now when I attempt to open ETL Ent I am prompted to enter the license key again. After doing so I receive a confirmation message but ETL Ent never opens. Does anyone know whether this situation is recoverable?

There is a "REGISTER" parameter on the startup shortcut and once it is removed the problem goes away.

When Advanced ETL Processor Ent is installed there are several short cuts created

1. Used to launch Advanced ETL Processor Ent
"C:\Program Files (x86)\DB Software Laboratory\Advanced ETL Processor Enterprise\AdvancedETLEnt.exe"

2. Used to enter registration key
"C:\Program Files (x86)\DB Software Laboratory\Advanced ETL Processor Enterprise\AdvancedETLEnt.exe" REGISTER

I have removed the REGISTER parameter from the Start menu shortcut.

So, the method for installing an updated release is to download the latest file of the product and re-run the installation. When prompted, a new repository is not created. The app can be launched at the end of the installation and I am not prompted for the registration code. If I then close the app and attempt to launch it from the Start menu shortcut I find that the REGISTER startup parameter has been reapplied. With each upgrade installation I should clean my shortcuts or there is a step I have not followed correctly?

You are using wrong short cut
There is no need modify it just use another one
