We have been using the ETL tool to grab files off of FTP. Recently, we have had the need arise to grab files that are on an FTPS server. I am able to set up the connection and when I set up a package to connect to that FTPS server, the connection is successful and I can see the files. However when I try to run the package to download them to the server I get the following message in the log:

formation 10/7/2010 6:07:53 PM Preparing to execute: FTP - File Download

Information 10/7/2010 6:07:53 PM Package Started

Information 10/7/2010 6:07:53 PM Executing Ftp (Download): Download Extracts

Information 10/7/2010 6:07:53 PM Connecting to: datawarehouseserver

Information 10/7/2010 6:07:56 PM Connected!

Information 10/7/2010 6:07:56 PM Changing Remote directory to: /

Information 10/7/2010 6:07:56 PM Done!

Information 10/7/2010 6:07:56 PM Getting List of files

Information 10/7/2010 6:07:56 PM Mask:

Error 10/7/2010 6:07:56 PM Following Ftp Error happened PROT P required

Error 10/7/2010 6:07:56 PM Package Failed

Does the ‘PROT P’ required error mean anything to you? Should I be following up with our IT department on this or is this something you can help me with? I currently have installed version 4.2.1.0…I didn’t see anything in the latest version notes that was related to FTP. Any direction that can be offered is appreciated.

Thanks in advance
David

Try using FTP server type Explicit

PROT P refers to the data transfers. Communication with the server is always encrypted if you use SSL/TLS.
Communication encrypted: PROT C, Communication+Data encrypted: PROT P.
