There are a lot of ETL tools available on the market at the moment.
Most of them quite expensive and all they do is load data from file or table 'X' into table 'Y' and some transformations in the middle.
It as almost impossible to use such kind of application for the outsiders of of IT world.
Things became even more complicated when you want to do something little bit different like process email attachments and load them
into the database.
It would probably require employing full time programmer to do it.
Another point of consideration:
What if you got very tight budget and must do this kind of job just one time per year.

According to the latest government regulation every state school must make results of exams available for public.
Our objective was little bit more different. In our department we wanted to benchmark cost of running school in relation with exams results.

We managed to complete fist part of plan very quickly and we started to receive data from the schools.

Very soon we realised that we are receiving amount of data which we can't process on time because we have not got enough staff.
we started to look for a tool to help us to automate our routine tasks.
It was very easy to find tools to load data from text files provided by the schools into our database.
But it was not what exactly we wanted.
Since some of school were sending data via email others use our ftp site we wanted to process this data without human intervention.

We did a lot search in the internet and finally managed to find a solution Visual Importer Professional.
